"Perfect Fifth"

In our fifth year, we continue our journey to perform all the major works of J.S. Bach with three "Bach Experience" sessions dedicated to the St. John Passion and performances of Handel’s Dixit Dominus and Bach’s Easter and Ascension Oratorios. In addition, the Festival will feature internationally-renowned organist and pedagogue Alcée Chriss as the Festival organ recitalist and clinician, our popular "Bach at the Brauhaus", and a new multimedia event, "Bach in a New Light," featuring Bach’s music set to a laser light show.

June 13, 14, 16 • 12:30 pm
Christ Church Charlotte
All Saints Hall
1412 Providence Rd.
Charlotte, NC

Written during his first year as director of church music in Leipzig and first performed on April 7, 1724, the St. John Passion  reveals Bach at his most dramatic and most expressive. This is Bach at “peak rhetorical,” displaying the eagerness and raw emotion of the vocal music he had composed at Weimar, but now with the increased resources available to him in his new post. Christ Church Charlotte 250.png
