Bach Akademie Charlotte kicks off its third season with its first national collegiate residency. For five days this October, Akademie musicians will be offering master classes in conducting, singing, and playing to students at the University of Iowa (Iowa City, Iowa). Akademie musicians will also hold roundtable discussions on career development and performance practice. The residency culminates in a joint performance with the University of Iowa’s top vocal ensemble, Kantorei, on Thursday, October 17 at the school’s Voxman Music Building. Bach Akademie Charlotte has worked previously with students from Wingate University (N.C.) and Wake Forest University (N.C.).

“We are truly grateful for the opportunity for the Bach Akademie to reach a national audience and to connect to the next generation of musical leaders in the repertoire that most inspires us.”

– Scott Allen Jarrett, Artistic Director

Featured musicians include sopranos Sarah Yanovitch, MaryRuth Lown, Margaret Haigh Carpenter, and Nola Richardson; altos Elizabeth Eschen and Jay Carter; tenors Steven Soph and Patrick Muehleise; basses John Buffett and Jason Steigerwalt; John Lenti, theorbo; Guy Fishman, cello; and Nicolas Haigh, organ.
