St. Matthew Passion

Bach Akademie Charlotte launches its 2020-2021 season virtually, with an in-depth look at the St. Matthew Passion, BWV 244. This series features six videos, with extended insight from Artistic Director Scott Allen Jarrett and selections from our performance at the 2019 Charlotte Bach Festival.

Movements 2-6, including the aria, Buss und Reu (Woe and rue)
Movements 26-29, including O Mensch, bewein dein Sünde groß (O mankind, mourn your great sins)
Movements 38-40, including the aria, Erbame dich (Have mercy, Lord)
Movements 45-50, including the aria, Aus Liebe will mein Heiland sterben (Out of love my Savior wants to die).
Movements 61-65, including the aria, Mache diche, mein Herze rein (Make Thee clean, my heart)
Movements 1, 67-68, the opening and closing choruses
