Florilegium at 400: Bach the Teacher

April 23 • 7:30 pm

Myers Park Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, NC

Tickets are available at the door.

Premium Seating $40
General Seating $25

Our spring concerts feature modern-day premieres of musical motets from the two-volume collection Florilegium Portense (published in 1618 and 1621), integral to the Thomaskirche’s repertoire in Leipzig during J.S. Bach’s tenure as Thomaskantor. The 400th anniversary of this collection’s publication offers an opportunity to highlight recently published research by Frederick Jodry, Director of Choral Activities at Brown University. We will contextualize these motets alongside similarly scored works by Bach in a program crafted to highlight his role as educator.
