What happens when old music gets new stories? Baroque Remix takes the bones of Baroque theater and brings them roaring into the present, with modern adaptations of Bach’s Peasant Cantata and Pergolesi’s La serva padrona. The music remains grounded in the wit, rhythm, and expressive vitality of the Baroque, but the conversation is unmistakably contemporary: sharp, funny, human, and immediately recognizable.

Making their Bach Charlotte debuts, soprano Sonja DuToit Tengblad and baritone David McFerrin bring extraordinary range to this theatrical evening. Tengblad is a radiant and adventurous artist whose work spans Baroque opera, contemporary music, and leading vocal ensembles. McFerrin is a versatile and acclaimed singing actor at home in opera, concert, recital, and early music. Together, they turn centuries-old works into something vivid, welcoming, and full of comic life: old music, new stories, and a concert experience unlike anything else at WinterFest.
