Dr. Roseen Giles to deliver pre-concert lectures

Roseen Giles, Duke UniversityDuke University’s Dr. Roseen Giles will deliver two pre-concert lectures at Charlotte Bach Festival ’26: one prior to the Wednesday, June 3 performance of Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and one before the Saturday, June 6 performance of George Frideric Handel’s Theodora. Each lecture will be from 6:30pm–7:00 pm.

Roseen is the Musicologist-in-Residence for Bach Charlotte, thanks to the generosity of Susan Shimp. At Duke University, Roseen is the Mrs. Alexander Hehmeyer Associate Professor of Music and the Curator of the Duke University Musical Instrument Collections (DUMIC). She is the author of Monteverdi and the Marvellous: Poetry, Sound, and Representation (Cambridge University Press, 2023) and Lettera amorosa: Musical Love-Letters in Early Modern Italy (Cambridge University Press, 2025).
