Education is central to everything we do. We provide dedicated programs for trained classical singers and undergraduate vocal students, as well as opportunities for adults (and soon, youth), to learn more about how Bach's music works, and what continues to make it relevant today.
Vocal Fellows
Bach Akademie Charlotte’s Vocal Fellows Program is a tuition-free, advanced summer training program for classical singers with interest in Baroque music and Historically Informed Performance Practice. Designed for highly accomplished students and emerging professional singers, the Vocal Fellows Program provides opportunities for education and career advancement within the context of Bach Akademie Charlotte’s annual Charlotte Bach Festival.
Choral Scholars
Bach Akademie Charlotte's Choral Scholars program gives undergraduate vocal students the opportunity to rehearse and perform with professional members of the BAC Cantata Choir and Orchestra. Each student is also paired with a member of the professional ensemble, providing an opportunity to learn about all aspects of a life in professional music-making.
Residencies
Bach Akademie Charlotte is also proud to offer a residency program in partnership with institutions of higher education around the United States. Through side-by-side music-making and joint performances over the course of a week-long residency, students gain valuable insight into the rehearsal process and performance experience by working with a nationally-recognized Baroque ensemble.
Carolina Bach Competition
This annual competition brings together exceptional student and adult musicians from across the Carolinas in a day of adjudication, educational opportunities, college counseling, and campus tours — a unique and transformative experience for young musicians and their families.
