Elizabeth Eschen

Mezzo-soprano and voice pedagogue Elizabeth Eschen recently returned from performances of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with Helmuth Rilling in Germany and is delighted to now sing with Bach Akademie Charlotte. Early and baroque music have comprised a major part of her work since moving back to Boston in 2014—she performs regularly with Boston Baroque, Cantata Singers (Jordan Hall solo debut with Honegger Le Roi David), Marsh Chapel Choir (soloist for Bach St. Matthew Passion and James Kallembach Most Sacred Body), and attended the last two Weimar Bach Academies. Other recent highlights include her Boston Lyric Opera debut (Carmen), recording the Studio Cast Album of Alan Menken’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and solo appearances with Newburyport Chorale, Quincy Choral Society, and Harvard Choruses. When she is not performing, Liz can be found teaching voice function and holistic vocal health to the next generation of singers in her role as the Director of the Voice Program at Harvard University, in the yoga studio, or walking outside to replenish her body and soul with fresh air and nature!
